100% Oshima Tsumugi 大島紬 silk kimono textile from Amami Oshima island in Japan, dating back to the early 20th century. The patchwork incorporates the "kikko" 亀甲 (a traditional Japanese kimono pattern that means “turtle shell” and is inspired by the hexagonal shape of a tortoiseshell). This pattern symbolizes longevity, stability, and good fortune in Japanese culture.
Unisex, relaxed fit with a structured feel while maintaining the fluidity of silk. The original kimono seams are preserved, honoring the garment's history and craftsmanship. Zero-waste design through patchwork techniques. Shell buttons, 1930s-1960s. Raw edge detailing throughout. Each garment is cut individually by hand. One of a kind.
