100% cotton yukata 浴衣 (a casual lightweight kimono traditionally worn in summer, often at festivals, hot springs, and ryokan) textiles from Japan, 1950s-1980s.
This garment is made from a traditional chusen-dyed, 注染 yukata (a Japanese hand-dyeing technique that creates intricate patterns visible on both sides, as the dye thoroughly permeates the fabric rather than sitting on the surface). The result is a lightweight, breathable garment, ideal for summer.
The original yukata seams are preserved, honoring the garment's history, craftsmanship, and hand-mending throughout. Chusen dyeing remains a cherished art form, preserving Japan's textile heritage. Single front flap pocket, shell buttons, 1930s-1960s, with a hand-stitched applique at the back neck. Each garment is cut individually by hand. One of a kind. The flower brooch is not included with the shirt.
