100% cotton yukata textiles from Japan, 1950s-1980s. The wearer's right side panel patchwork incorporates an antique cotton yukata, 浴衣 (a casual lightweight kimono traditionally worn in summer, often at festivals, hot springs, and ryokan) combined with deadstock 100% wool sourced from Italy.
This garment is made from a traditional chusen-dyed, 注染 yukata (a Japanese hand-dyeing technique that creates intricate patterns visible on both sides, as the dye thoroughly permeates the fabric rather than sitting on the surface). The result is a lightweight, breathable garment, ideal for summer.
The original yukata seams are preserved, honoring the garment's history and craftsmanship. Chusen dyeing remains a cherished art form, preserving Japan's textile heritage.
Unisex, relaxed, and elongated fit. The extended silhouette offers the feel of a lightweight coat, combining structure with effortless ease. A set of 20 shell buttons, 1930s-1960s, arranged in a series along the front opening, allowing the wearer to button as many or as few as desired, adding to the unique, customizable design. Two front functional flap pockets and a single button at the cuff. Each garment is cut individually by hand. One of a kind.
Size and garment measurements:
Size S: Front length 37.5" / Back length 37.5" / Chest 24.5" / Sleeve length from high point shoulder 33"
