Repurposed from a 100% silk haori 羽織, (a traditional Japanese jacket worn over a kimono originally designed for samurai as a practical outer layer for warmth and protection), textile lining, silk haori lining dating back to the early 20th century, and a tamaito silk yarn, made from a unique process involving two silk worms that spin a single cocoon together, resulting in a thicker robust silk fiber.
This rare, labor-intensive yarn adds strength and a texture that combines heritage and traditional craftsmanship. The original haori seams are preserved, honoring the garment's history and craftsmanship with unique patterns and hand-painted techniques that have stood the test of time.
Unisex, relaxed fit with a structured, crisp feel while maintaining the fluidity of silk. Hand-applied top silk thread stitching. Shell buttons, 1930s-1960s. Raw edge detailing throughout. Each garment is cut individually by hand. One of a kind.
