Repurposed from a 100% silk haori 羽織, (a traditional Japanese jacket worn over a kimono originally designed for samurai as a practical outer layer for warmth and protection), textile lining, silk haori lining dating back to the early 20th century, and a silk kurotomesode 黒留袖, kimono (the most formal kimono for married women in Japan), traditionally worn at weddings and celebratory events. It features family crests on the back and sleeves, emphasizing elegance and significance.
The original haori and kimono seams are preserved, honoring the garment's history and craftsmanship with unique patterns and hand-painted techniques that have stood the test of time.
Unisex, relaxed fit with a structured, crisp feel while maintaining the fluidity of silk. Hand-painted koi fish with gold accents and hand-applied top thread stitching. Shell buttons, 1930s-1960s. Raw edge detailing throughout. Each garment is cut individually by hand. One of a kind.
