edition N° 1, 3 of 15
Vintage kimono bolt fabric.
Inspired by the essence of an open field: space, stillness, and the infinite paths to travel.
The pattern is cut from a colorful yellow ground, 'Tanmono' 反物, a roll of cloth to make a kimono. Traditionally, a kimono is constructed from bolts of silk measuring 14" / 35-37cm wide and the pattern is developed and carefully laid out to maintain the narrow width. Detailed with a center front placket with shell buttons, front patch pockets, back yoke with an inverted pleat, side paneling, single-button cuffs, and selective raw edge finishes.
Every piece is one-of-a-kind and numbered. All wear and idiosyncrasies are unique to the textile. Handcrafted by artisans in New York City.
